This project involved creating a cohesive and user-centered experiential graphic design solution in a real-world context. We were tasked with designing and implementing a wayfinding and signage system for a retail space, implementing the branding of a digital brand into the space, and applying our knowledge of iconography, branding, and user experience in the final outcome. Students were required to create digital and physical prototypes for the solution. My proposal involved a 3D render and a scale model.
I chose the retail space of Build-A-Bear Workshop in Westfield Belconnen, and rebranded the space under Google’s aesthetic, complete with iconography, colour palette, and typography. By integrating Google’s minimalistic aesthetic and Build-A-Bear’s interactive customer experience, the solution created an intuitive system that not only reflects Google’s branding, but also helps users in orientation as they move through the bear-making process. Key features include a simplified colour-coded system utilising Google’s palette, a custom set of icons for the stages, and a balance between digital and physical elements to guide users effectively.
